Choosing a Dental School
Which Dental School suits me?
There are 16 UK universities offering Dentistry and each dental school is different in its own right.
It can be difficult to decide which ones to put down on your UCAS form. The questions below may help to categorise the schools and either include or eliminate schools depending on your answers.
-
Close to home or not?
-
Graduate entry or undergraduate entry?
-
Are you interested in intercalating (6 year course) or not (5 year course)?
-
Integrated courses vs PBL?
-
MMI interview or panel interview?
-
Early clinical exposure?

One of the best ways to know is to attend Open Days. Read our 5 top tips for making the most of open days here, and download our table of questions to take with you to all your open days.
Understandably, a lot of the open days have been cancelled so far and this will be reviewed in June.
In line with government guidance universities are currently closed. Until they re-open it is unlikely that any open days will go ahead in the months of April and May. Some universities have still kept their dates for June 2020 open, however this is constantly under review. However, as we adapt to the situations many universities are now having virtual open days with lots of helpful videos regarding the application process. In the coming months, we will be releasing a document regarding the profiles of all the universities to try and help you a little bit more. Please email hello@step2med.co.uk if you have any specific questions.

Likewise, you can download our list of questions which we recommend to take to universities but instead you could email them or call them ask them all your questions over the phone - sometimes this is the best way to really find out.
