Who we are

Step2Med is a trading name of Step2Med Ltd, company number 10863260, and we are the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact us about anything in this policy at hello@step2med.co.uk.

What we collect

When you buy from us or fill in a form, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, the application stage you tell us you are at, and, for some services, details needed to deliver them, such as which medical school or region you are applying through, your availability, and any draft answers or documents you send for review. When you pay, our payment provider processes your card details; we never see or store them. Our website also collects the usual technical information, such as pages visited, through cookies described below.

Why we use it and on what basis

We use your information to deliver what you bought and arrange it with you, which is necessary for our contract with you. We use your email to send the newsletter and guidance you signed up for, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us. We keep basic purchase records to meet our legal obligations, and we use technical information to keep the site working and secure, which is in our legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

We use carefully chosen service providers to run Step2Med: a payment provider to take payments, an email platform to send our emails, our website host, and the platforms that deliver courses and video content. They process your information only on our instructions. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, recognised safeguards such as the UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses are in place. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase records for six years, as required for tax purposes. Draft answers and documents you send for review are deleted within [6 months] of the service being delivered. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.

Young people

Some of our undergraduate services are used by people under 18. We collect only what is needed to deliver the service, and our services are not directed at anyone under 13. If you are under 16, please involve a parent or guardian in any purchase.

Cookies

The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and, where you consent, cookies that help us understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser and through the site’s cookie settings.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on. Write to hello@step2med.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
